Image decoding and encoding are handled by your browser. File size, colour handling and encoding speed therefore differ between browsers, versions and devices. WebP encoding in particular is noticeably slower than JPG on most hardware, and is unavailable in a small number of older browsers, in which case the tool falls back to JPG.
Your responsibility for images
You are responsible for holding the rights to any image you process, and for the watermarks you apply. Adding a watermark does not create, register or prove copyright ownership.
